Cigdem Mirol

Cigdem worked for Grob Gallery as an assistant curator and as a creative director. She performed variety of tasks including research on, writing about and assisting in the selection of artists and their artworks, was therefore closely involved in the conception and execution of the exhibitions and events. She also took part in establishing and carrying out relationships with the artists and was responsible for the artistic representation of the gallery in diverse aspects.

 

Apart from her work in curating, Cigdem is pursuing a PhD in Literary Studies & Arts at Ghent University. Her thesis project explores a literary and artistic concept she calls “bookperformance” that has a specific emphasis on the phenomenon of LOVE. She has a B.A. in American Culture & Literature and an M.A. in Turkish Literature & Literary Theory from Bilkent University. She also has extensive experience as a teacher, translator and journalist.
